On River Tornionjoki the largest salmons are caught by trolling plugs, flies and spoons. Trolling means that you draw lures through the water behind by rowing.

Actually you drive up the river by the outboard motor and the river takes you down. By rowing you slow the speed and steer the lures to the salmon's hiding places. It is very relaxing experience. You don't need to have any trolling experience before. You can enjoy the trolling fishing from the first moment with the help of fishing guides. You don't need to learn difficult throwing technique like in fly fishing. You just pull line from the reel, set the friction brake on right position and wait the hit of salmon.
